Medical
When it comes to essential industries, PVC manufacturing is included in the chemical sector, which is recognized as a critical infrastructure sector by the US Department of Homeland Security. Aurora Material Solutions manufactures a variety of high-performance compounds for essential industries, including medical and health care. We are proud to supply products that help to improve the health and well-being of Millions of people in America.
Our innovative flexible PVC, rigid PVC, SEBS, TPR and custom TPO compounds are found in a variety of products used in medical applications. These include nasal cannulas that deliver oxygen to life-critical patients. Our innovative products are also used in orthopedic leg braces, inhalers, respirator masks, face seals, grips, gaskets vibration dampening pads and other non-implantable devices. They are also used in wire and cable and battery cases for life-critical hospital equipment, such as ventilators, surgical crash carts and defibrillators.
- AuroraFlex™ flexible PVC is a cost-effective alternative to our thermoplastic elastomers. These compounds provide flexible PVC from 35A to 95A Shore A durometer* to semi-rigid, with specific gravities ranging from 1.15 to 1.65. We use various types of compound additives to promote plasticity and flexibility to meet specific needs, such as renewable non-phthalate, improved low temperature tolerance and biocides. When you’re looking for a compound that offers high-abrasion resistance and excellent processing properties, AuroraFlex SL is designed to produce longer-lasting materials, with no tearing.
- AuroraFlex SEBS compounds utilize multiple TPE/TPR chemistries to impart high-performance properties for durability and easy processing. These materials have many of the same properties as vulcanized rubber, but can be molded and extruded using conventional thermoplastic process equipment. Thermoplastic processing provides advantages over vulcanized, thermoset rubbers, which are processed using a slower and more costly curing process. Most of our TPR formulations are 100% recyclable and are RoHS compliant.
- AuroraFlex compounds can be used to manufacture a variety of medical products, including nasal cannulas, defibrillators, inhalers, and more. These compounds can be formulated to provide weather resistance, ozone resistance, low-temperature flexibility as well as excellent resistance to many chemicals. They are lightweight and can be colored to meet your requirements.
- AuroraTec™ rigid PVC compounds are UL recognized and ideal for wire and cable conduit applications. Highly versatile, these compounds can be used as stand-alone compounds or as structural substrates, along with capstock, in two-part systems. Either way, AuroraTec™ compounds provide a wide processing window and demonstrate resistance to electrical failure far surpassing metal conduits under similar conditions of heat exposure due to their lower thermal conductivity. Designed for the extrusion process, they are available in pellet or powder form in a wide range of colors.
- AuroraTec PC/PBT (polycarbonate/polybutylene terephthalate) compounds are made from alloys of amorphous polycarbonate and the semi-crystalline polybutylene terephthalate resin. They offer excellent chemical resistance and dimensional stability, making AuroraTec PC/PBT ideal for many medic al applications. These compounds also have high impact and heat resistance, as well as outstanding aesthetic and processability characteristics. AuroraTec PC/PBT has Impact-modified grades that can provide a high level of impact strength at low temperatures. There are also flame-retardant grades (both non-halogenated and brominated), glass filled grades, and UV (ultra-violet) stabilized grades.
- AuroraGuard™ compounds offer many of the same performance and processing benefits of AuroraTec, but also provide high-heat, low-smoke zero-halogen and flame-retardant properties. AuroraGuard ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) are ideal for many medical applications, including nebulizers, drug delivery systems, compressors, and medical equipment housings because they have exceptional purity, low residual monomers, lot-to-lot consistency, and superior whiteness.
- AuroraGuard PC/ABS provides impact strength, heat resistance, colorability, very good aesthetics and dimensional stability. These compounds are also available in a recyclable grade series, which are filled with specialized fillers, minerals, or glass. These grades exhibit a superb combination of thermal and mechanical properties, excellent impact strength, high heat resistance, dimensional stability, great processability, flame retardancy, and a wide range of viscosities. AuroraGuard PC/ABS is ideal for all types of medical housings.
- AuroraGuard MABS (methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene), often known as clear ABS, can outperform polystyrene, SAN, and PMMA for impact resistance and has similar heat distortion properties. Polycarbonate can outperform clear ABS for both impact resistance and high-temperature properties as well. Clear ABS scores well for stress-crack resistance and processability, with good melt flow characteristics.
- Auroralite™ cellular foam rigid PVC products combine the maintenance-free features of vinyl with the matte finish look of painted wood. They allow easy nailing and screwing, while providing mildew resistance, rot resistance and weight reduction properties.
Our experts will work with you to create the right formulation, considering factors like clarity, color, UV resistance, durometer requirements, chemical resistance, and the need to accommodate low temperatures.
