Aurora Material Solutions Appoints Technology Director

Aurora Material Solutions announces the appointment of Thomas Zhang to technology director. In his role, Zhang will translate unmet customer needs into polymer solutions. He will lead the Lunenburg, Mass., R&D team to formulate flexible PVC, TPE, low-smoke zero-Halogen TPOs, CPE alloys, and flame retardant concentrate compounds. In addition, Zhang will work with operations on scale-ups and provide technical assistance to procurement, sales and customers.

Zhang joins Aurora Material Solutions from Cri-Tech (a member of the Daikin Group) in Hanover, Mass., where he most served as the manager of plastic technology. He has also worked for S&E Specialty Polymers and Hyperion Catalysis International earlier in his career.

He has a master’s degree in polymer materials engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology in Beijing, China, and a master’s in materials science and engineering from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering from Zhengzhou University in Zhengzhou, China.
